Sunflowers

Late summer, gardens filled with yellow, red and orange flowers. My favorite is old-fashioned sunflower. And it happens to be the only flower that I find hard to paint!
I took few references photos and decided to give them a go one more time!

I painted this first in watercolor and then frustrated with result I covered it with gouache, I was coming back to it every day when eventually I started all over again.

This time I started loosely and tried to keep it that way.

And I feel like I am a step closer to portraying those wonderful blooms.
