About me
About Me
I am a self-taught Polish artist living and painting in co. Wexford, Ireland, which has been my home for the last 18 years.
My love for the lightness and unpredictability of watercolour make it my favourite medium and my watercolour paintings can be described as bold and fresh. I have won several awards both nationally and internationally and have been working as a professional artist for the past seven years.
my paintings
I exaggerate both colour and light as when we remember some place or moment in time our minds naturally does this as well and the memories are sharper and bolder. I focus the viewer on a pin prick in time, a snapshot bright and beautiful. Positive beautiful art, nostalgic but also of the now.
Be it not a memory I feel it should still speak to you. And what it says can’t be boring or repetitive but a mantra, words to affirm and live by every day that you never tire of hearing.
Plein Air Painting
Plein air painting is an important part of my process, indeed a necessary addition to my visual development – it informs every studio painting I do. When you paint plein air nature is your tutor, a benign and patient master who gentle guides your hand with each lesson and with each and every interaction brings better understanding of the landscape and its myriad of colours and moods. Landscapes are a perfect way of expressing the beauty of the world around me.
Learning to paint is a slow process, indeed one could argue a never ending one, but once mastered i believe there is a duty to give back to the world by adding beauty to it. I have borrowed so much from nature and continue to do so, so I hope I do her justice in my works and by my works show my love of her.
Teaching
I have been teaching others to paint with watercolour for over 7 years and it is a very rewarding part of my practice. I love watching how students loosen up, get better and fall in love with watercolour.
