Reflecting on 2024
This year has been filled with creativity, growth, and memorable moments. Here’s a look back at what has been an exciting chapter in my artistic journey:
-
Solo Exhibition ā ‘Blooming Fields’: Returning to solo exhibitions after a couple of years, I showcased a new collection Iām incredibly proud of at the Pigyard Gallery. This vibrant series, inspired by Irish hedgerows, found a wonderful reception from visitors. You can explore the collection on my website here.
-
Awards and Recognition:
- Silver Award at Art in the Open (AITO) ā A true honor at one of the worldās premier plein air festivals.
- First Prize at Dublin Plein Air Festival ā A rewarding moment of recognition among talented artists.
- Award at Mount Congreve Gardens Plein Air Competition ā Painting in such a picturesque location was inspiring and unforgettable.
(Find more details about these awards on my blog here).
-
Exhibiting at Bloom Festival: Returning to Bloom Festival after many years, this has become one of my favorite events. Itās a place where I connect with nature lovers and gardeners who truly appreciate my work. Each year, I find new audiences and leave inspired by their enthusiasm and connection to art and nature.
-
Plein Air Adventures: While I didnāt paint outdoors as much this year due to other projects, I treasured every plein air moment. My favorite location this year was definitely Cahore, where the beauty of the landscape never fails to inspire me.
-
10th Edition of My Calendar: I still remember struggling to sell 50 copies of my very first calendar ten years ago. Over the years, Iāve gained the skill to design it thoughtfully, select the perfect artwork, and create something that has become a cherished tradition for many collectors. This year, Iām particularly proud of how it turned out.
-
Successful Print Sales: Thanks to your incredible support, my prints continue to find homes in countless spacesāfrom living rooms to offices. Knowing my work is admired in so many places keeps me inspired to create more.
-
Teaching and Workshops: I continued teaching my popular watercolour courses at Gorey Community Schooland hosted Sip and Paint classes, which were a big hit. Iām thrilled to continue these classes into the New Year!
-
Exhibitions: My work was featured in several exhibitions this year, including:
- Art in the Open ā Greenacres, Wexford
- Mount Congreve ā Bucolica Exhibition
- Portrait Exhibition at An Chead Tine, Kilkenny
-
First Full Year with Niamh: Niamh has truly become the face of the gallery. Her warm personality and genuine connection with visitors have made her a wonderful addition. Weāve developed a great working relationship, and sheās helped make this year run smoothly.
-
Meeting Lovely Customers: Every interaction in my gallery or at events has been a highlight. Itās heartwarming to meet so many people who continue to enjoy and support my workāwhether through prints, calendars, or original paintings.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Next year promises exciting new directions and opportunities:
- Focusing on Studio Work: Iāll be dedicating more time to creating larger pieces in the studio, exploring new ideas and techniques.
- A Curated Print Collection: Iāll offer a smaller, more exclusive selection of prints, focusing on quality and uniqueness.
- Seasonal Sales: Look out for sales in February, June, and October-November!
- Plein Air Festivals: Iām planning to return to several plein air festivals, including the Bloom Festival in May and June.
- Teaching and Community: Workshops and classes will remain central to my year, sharing my love of art and connecting with fellow creatives.
Thank you for being part of my journey in 2024. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me, and Iām excited to see what 2025 has in store!
