A Breath of Plein Air

Wow! What a week! And I’m not talking about just the weather! I am talking of the fab week that was the inaugural plein air festival organised by Paul D’Arcy and supported by Fingal County Council and many other sponsors. And how well it was organised! From day one everything was so well run, Paul and his team really did a great job. Lots of fab locations and lots of great fellow painters, some old hands and some newbies.

Sadly I couldn’t attend every day due to work commitments but I did manage 4 out of the 7 days. Of the 4 I wet to my favourite was Malahide Castle and Gardens. We were set in magnificent walled gardens.

But I had other highlights! On the first day in Balbriggan I won first prize of the day with the painting of Balbriggan Harbour. It was a great surprise and super bonus to a wonderful day of painting in a magnificent weather.

Then on Saunday I won little prize sponsored by Evans Art Supply and awarded to my by one of the helping Stewards – it was the perfect ending to a great week!

Can’t wait for the next year!
