Riverchapel Mural

There are times when being an artist feels that extra bit special. And every time I pass my mural in Riverchapel is one of those times. I am so proud of it and delighted how it turned out.

A Couple of months ago I was asked to paint a mural in Riverchapel as a part of a community project involving Courtown Community Council, Creative Ireland and Wexford County Council. After overcoming many obstacles, the biggest one being the last lockdown, I can now thankfully present to you ‘the finished product’.

My idea was to create the link from Riverchapel to the sea, but also provide a different perspective and encourage engagement from the kids and adults passing by. This long wall seemed perfect for ‘Sea Ribbon’ – an underwater mural. It features exotic and native fish and mammals with each of the 4 panels having its own theme (Native, Movement, Herd or Alone, Colour).

While painting this mural I got great feedback and encouragement from the local residents and it really felt like this was the perfect location.

Below see some photographs of the finished mural and work in progress. Enjoy!
